What to wear when you go for a run.
Are you a fanatic runner? Then you may know the 3 layers system. If you're a true athlete, weather should be no obstacle. Some days you’re running in 10 degrees through lots of rain and wind, and others it's 29 degrees. How should you dress while running in this weather? A three-layer system gives you optimal protection in cold, dry, hot and wet conditions. It doesn’t matter if you are running for a marathon, charity run(City2surf) or just a casual jog, ONTHEGO can get you sorted with our running gear.
3 Layers System
What is the 3 Layers System? It’s the Base (compression), the In-Between (shorts, running singlet or tee) and the Outer Shell (running jacket). The clothes you run in all depend on the weather. During the production of running clothes, special materials are used with this knowledge in mind. ONTHEGO Sports uses a lightweight ActivTek Mesh to fight through the discomfort that comes from sweating. It is specifically chosen because you’re able to work up a sweat while you run without worrying about it pooling in all the wrong places. No matter how many layers it tries to work through, our material’s moisture-wicking properties will ensure you’re kept both cool and dry. Not only is it lightweight, but it has anti-bacterial properties, which means you can push yourself to the maximum.
1st Layer: Base Layer (Compression)
When you run, heat is released. This heat must be removed quickly, which is why functional compression garments are so important. This first layer ensures a rapid drainage of perspiration fluid. An important feature of technical compression wear is its insulation properties, which can prove to be better insulation than cotton. ONTHEGO has the right compression wear for running. With the Women RunTek Long Sleeve Tee , The Mens RunTek Long Sleeve Tee , and Womens ActivTek Tights you are good to go.
2nd layer: In Between Layer (insulating in-between layer with singlet and tees).
The main tasks of the in-between layers are to keep the body warm and ensure that the perspiration fluid is fed from the first layer. Your body does not cool down through the second layer. It also takes care of the discharge of excess body heat. The materials belonging to the 2nd layer must have the properties to allow heat and moisture transport. You can design your own singlets and tees online starting with these: Womens RunTek Singlet, Mens RunTek Singlet, Womens ActivTek Tee and Mens ActivTek Tee.
3rd layer: Outer Shell (protective running jacket)
The third layer protects you while running through wind and damp weather. The last layer must be windproof, breathable and waterproof. A protective running jacket offers the best solution. The running jacket must also be able to breathe and provide comfort. You can design your own Mens SoftShell Fleece Jacket, Womens SoftShell Fleece Jacket, Lightweight Jacket and Heavyweight Jacket in our 3D kit builder.
